Ever been on a beer run in Killeen, Texas? I guarantee you've never been on one like this.

Killeen Is Making The 5k Fun Again

Everyone has that one person in their family who enjoys running a 5k, don't they? It seems like an abnormality, but yes some members of the population indeed like running. Weird, huh?

But running sometimes just isn't fun isn't it? Especially in the Texas heat. We're already sweating at the thought of it.

So some 5k runs have to be creative to get those who don't run to join in on the "fun." There've been 5k runs with bounce houses, such as the Insane Inflatable 5k, or one where you end up looking like a rainbow, otherwise known as The Color Run.

So there are definitely races where running is part of the event, but not the main part of why you participate. In Killeen, a new race is set to take place, and it's one that definitely is a 5k with a payoff.

A Different Kind of Beer Run

Let us introduce you to the Tipsy 5k.

Taking place during the Cen-Tex Race Series, the Killeen Tipsy 5k at Stonetree Golf Course will provide incentive to those wanting to gain points in the standings. But for others the end of the race is the real reason to take on the Texas heat.

Marcus Hood with the City of Killeen tells us registered runners over the age 21 will be given a wristband worth 3 cans of beer at the end of the race.

Ah, A Sweet Reward

Yes, you read that right - after the race, runners will be able to treat themselves to three 12-ounce cold ones just for participating. So even if you don't come in first, you're still a winner!

For those wanting to sign up for the inaugural Killeen Tipsy 5k, click here for more info and to register. You can also call (254) 501-6390.

You know you're going to work up a thirst in this Texas heat, so get in on this fun run and crack open a cool one.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

Here are the top 20 results of the survey. Let's see what the good people of Temple are craving!
