Drought conditions in Central Texas have prompted the Bell County Commissioners Court to ban some fireworks in Bell County.

County Judge John H. Burrows signed the ban Tuesday, and it will remain in effect until July 9 unless we see some significant rains before then. (Fingers crossed!)

Specifically, the ban mean no selling or using "skyrockets with sticks" or "missiles with fins". No, seriously. That's what it says! You can read it here.

The order affects unincorporated areas of Bell County. If you live in a city, you should check to see what their rules are regarding fireworks. In most cases, it's illegal to set them off within city limits. (Temple, for example.)
