One of Texas' most well known and beloved honky tonks is planning to reopen later this month. However it will open with the focus being on a restaurant, with operations as a music venue and bar second.

The doors at Billy Bob's in Forth Worth have been closed since June 26th after Gov. Abbott ordered the closure of establishments that make 51% of their revenue from sales of alcohol.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Billy Bob’s General Manager Marty Travis worked with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) to apply for a new certificate that will allow the venue to open as a restaurant whose food and concert ticket totals add up to more than 60% of the venue’s gross sales.

Billy Bob's is 127,000 square feet and can hold up to 6,000 people, but according to the staff they will not allow more than 1,200 during the coronavirus outbreak.

In the past, we've loved giving away tickets to the the legendary music hall, and we look forward to doing that again. Every Texan should get to experience the place. Hopefully once this pandemic blows over, we'll have a beer with you there and enjoy a show.
