A woman suspected of aiding an alleged murderer has given birth, officials have confirmed.

I had to do a double take when our partners at News 10 reported that Maya Maxwell had birthed a child, but a spokeswoman with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services has confirmed that the child is in the care of CPS.

If her name and photo seem familiar, you may remember that she's accused of helping murder suspect Cedric Marks hide his car after he allegedly murdered Jenna Scott and Michael Swearingin in early January of this year. Police say Maxwell confessed to her part in disposing of the vehicle, which was discovered in Austin on January 5.

Maxwell reportedly told detectives that she was at the Killeen home where Marks is believed to have killed Scott and Swearingin on the night of January 3. According to her statement, she saw Marks enter a room with Swearingin, after which she heard a struggle and saw Marks exit the room and Swearingin deceased. She then reportedly saw Marks enter a room with Scott, heard a struggle, and saw Marks exit the room where Scott was now dead.

Investigators believe Maxwell helped hide the bodies of the victims on a rural property in Okfussee County, Oklahoma, where they were discovered in shallow graves on January 15.

Maxwell remains in the Bell County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $750,000. She's charged with capital murder of multiple persons and tampering with or fabricating evidence with intent to impair an investigation.

Cedric Marks is also in the Bell County Jail with bonds totaling
$2,016,500. He's charged with capital murder of multiple persons, evidence tampering, interference with an emergency call, filing a false police report, violating a protective order, and burglary of a habitation.
