Central Texas Food Bank Announces February Distribution Events
The Central Texas Food Bank is back with its monthly free food distribution events for Temple and Waco.
The first event is coming up soon on Saturday, February 6. From 9AM to 11AM, volunteers will distribute nutritious items to those in need at Temple College, 2600 S. 1st Street in Temple.
The second event will take place Thursday, February 25 from 10AM to Noon at Waco ISD Stadium, 1401 S New Rd., Waco.
These events are designed as drive-through events, but they won't turn you away if you if you show up via public transportation or on foot. Just make sure you bring something that will make carrying food home easy and safe. The food will come in boxes that may be difficult to carry.
If you're driving through, be sure you've cleaned out your trunk or hatch and that volunteers can get into it. They'll load the food into your trunk, close it, and you'll be on your way.
Either way, please wear your mask and give volunteers plenty of space if you'll be interacting with them. This is for their health and safety as well as your own.
So many of our friends and neighbors are experiencing food insecurity right now due to the ongoing pandemic and its impact on the economy. Even if you're doing ok right now, please pass this information along. You never know who may need a helping hand right now while they work to get back on their feet.
If you're in need of food assistance and can't make it out to these events, please visit the Central Texas Food Bank's website and click the Find Food Now button toward the top right of the screen. You can find food distributions associated with the CTX Food Bank near you.
With demand so high right now, the food bank could use your help if you're able to give either a monetary donation or the gift of your time as a volunteer.
To those struggling right now, I want to say this: I've been there, and I know how difficult it is. You are valuable, and you will get through this. Stay strong, accept help when it's offered, and when you're back on your feet, pay that kindness forward.
