Yesterday The Bell County Public Health District asked New Beginnings Academy in Temple to close due to a positive case of COVID-19 in the facility.

According to a statement by Dr. Amanda Robison-Chadwell, the director of the Bell County Health District, an investigation was made, finding numerous people may have been exposed.

Because of those concerns, the Academy was asked to close.

The statement also says staff, attendees, and their family would be monitored and CDC guidelines will be followed moving forward.

The announcement comes as Governor Abbott gave daycare centers the go-ahead to reopen today.

According to the Dallas Morning News Abbott also gave permission to bars, they can now open to 25% capacity, restaurants to 50% capacity, and starting Friday businesses such as Bingo Parlors, bowling alleys, and rodeos are welcome to open.

At the end of the month, schools are expected to hold summer classes and summer camps can resume.

According to the Bell County Public Health District's website, the county has seen over 13,000 tests with 243 confirmed cases.

Three people have died and 150 people have recovered.
