Drake Breaks Usher’s Record for Most Weeks Atop Billboard Hot 100 Chart in a Year
In what seems to be the expectation now in 2018, Drake has broken another record. Drizzy's song "In My Feelings" has contributed to the Toronto artist finally outpacing Usher's 14-year record for most consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.
"In My Feelings," made popular by Instagram comedian Shiggy's challenge, has just topped the prestigious chart for the 10th week in a row. That makes Drake's 29th straight week at No. 1 in 2018, surpassing Usher, who has held the record of 28 weeks since 2004. In July, the Toronto MC broke Rihanna's Hot 100 record for most weeks atop the chart in the past 10 years after "In My Feelings" secured the spot for the third week in a row on July 30. Now, he's secured the record for the last 14 years.
The "In My Feelings" challenge saw everyone from 6ix9ine to farmers in India partake—including a few teachers. Most recently, Kanye West uploaded a video of his daughter North singing along to the track days after apologizing to Drake for any perceived involvement Drizzy's beef with Pusha-T.
In a long string of tweets, the Chicago lyricist pointed out the error of his ways, and promised to come out for one of Drake and Migos' joint performances sometime soon. "We were building a bond and working on music together," 'Ye tweeted. "I will be coming to your show within the next seven days to give love and be inspired by the art you have created." Though it's unclear whether he's actually attended one of the Aubrey and the Three Migos Tour dates, Drake doesn't appear to have a problem with it.
