Fans Think The Weeknd Disses Drake on New Song “Lost in the Fire”
Fans believe that The Weeknd just sneak-dissed Drake on "Lost in the Fire," a new song he dropped with French DJ-producer Gesaffelstein last night (Jan. 11).
On the track, which is produced by Gesaffelstein and DaHeala, The Weeknd sings, "And I just want a baby with the right one/'Cause I would never be the one to hide one."
In a vacuum, the above lyrics wouldn't mean all that much. However, fans think Weeknd is referring to Drake's son Adonis, a child Pusha-T told the world about on his Drizzy diss song "The Story of Adidon." Before the Pusha diss, Drake had yet to reveal his son to the world, and Pusha poked fun at the Toronto rapper for allegedly hiding the child.
With Weeknd's lyrics hitting the web, fans have naturally had a lot to say about his potential Drizzy diss.
"The Weeknd is the only one that gets a pass when dissing the living legend himself, Drake," one Twitter user said.
While there's always a chance Weeknd isn't speaking on Drake at all, the two did have something of a falling out after Weeknd helped craft Drake's Take Care album with the Toronto rapper more than seven years ago. Despite reported tension surrounding Weeknd's contributions to Take Care, the two Canadian artists were considered to be on good terms once Drake fully supported a collaborative project between OVO and XO.
We'll see if that ever happens, but for now listen The Weeknd's new song "Lost in the Fire" and check out his fans' reactions to his perceived Drake jab below.
