Every year this event provides soldiers and their families with free Christmas trees. Fort Hood is prepared to make this year's giveaway bigger and better. Many people in Fort Hood have been awaiting this event so it's important to understand the new rules that have been put in place to make the process as smooth as possible.

Only one tree per family will be available for pickup. Upon arrival, a valid military ID must be present and every representative must arrive during their set pickup time.

Pick Up Location:

Hood Stadium BLDG 50029

E1-E4 Soldiers and Families: Pick up times are 8:00 am - 10:00am

E5 and Above, and All DoD Cardholders: Pick-up times are 10:00 am - Until trees are gone.

If you plan to arrive and pick up a tree they ask that you come prepared to load your tree which means bring your rope and string because there will be a limited supply of material.

If you have never transported a tree before here are details on how to safely get your tree home.

- Most trees come with a netting. Leave the net on the tree it makes it much easier to transport and hold the tree in place.

-The best option for transporting your tree is a tree rack. If you do not own a tree rack securely lock your tree in place with rope. You should open the entire car door (not just the window) to fasten the tree around the roof. Wrap the base, middle, and top of the tree to make sure it is secure.

-if you are not using a rack lay down a tarp and or blanket to avoid scratches.

-Make sure that you can see out of your review and side mirrors.

-Drive slowly and practice safety when transporting. Make sure you have your hazards on,

If you qualify to participate in this year's Trees for Troops event I encourage you to arrive as close to your pickup time as possible. The price of Christmas trees has increased this year so this event is right on time.
