A 4-year-old girl who was initially reported missing was later found deceased.

According to a report from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, authorities in Fort Worth responded to a call of a missing child at the 2100 block of Hurley Ave. around 11:30 AM. Just a short time later, firefighters were dispatched to the same location with a report of a stabbing.

Officials discovered that the missing girl was the victim in the stabbing. Unfortunately, the young girl did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It is believed to be an isolated incident,” Fort Worth police spokesman Officer Buddy Calzada told the Star-Telegram.

Police have not yet released information on a possible suspect. Currently this case is under investigation by the Fort Worth Homicide unit,  the Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Our sincere condolences are with the family and friends of this child.
