Jay-Z Influenced Colin Kaepernick’s NFL Workout: Report
Jay-Z may have used his influence to get NFL teams to check out former quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
On Wednesday (Nov. 13) NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport claimed that Jay-Z influenced setting up of Kaepernick's upcoming combine-style workout exhibition for 32 NFL teams, which will take place in Atlanta on Saturday at 3 p.m. EST.
"I am also told that Jay-Z—who has been working with the NFL on some social justice initiatives—was involved in this and pushed this idea to some extent," he said.
Via his Twitter account, Rapoport that Colin's upcoming workout was not part of his settlement that he reached with the NFL back in February. Either way, this combine should give Colin the opportunity to prove to NFL teams that he is still in top physical and mental condition to play football in the NFL for the first time in three years.
Since the announcement that Jay-Z was teaming up with the NFL, the Roc Nation mogul has been heavily criticized by Kaep's friend, fellow NFL player Eric Reid and Kaepernick's girlfriend Nessa, the latter of whom thinks Hov helped bury the athlete by partnering with the NFL for a social justice initiative.
Jay-Z, who hasn't released a new solo project since 2017's 4:44, has not made an official statement about Colin's upcoming workout. XXL has reached out to Hov's camp for comment.
