'Black Panther: The Album' Is #1 for the Second Week in a Row

It isn't just the movie that's doing big numbers— Black Panther: The Album is the number one album in the country for the second week in a row, reports Billboard.

Curated by TDE's Kendrick Lamar and Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, the project features standout tracks from Anderson .Paak, Kendrick himself, Jorja Smith, SOB X RBE, Travis Scott and more. The album hit #1 during its debut on the charts, and moved 131,000 units (40,000 in pure sales) in week 2, giving it top placement on the charts.

"I think [Black Panther] is something that not only stands within its moment but stands within time," Kendrick told BBC Radio 1 last week. “We’re talking about timeless films and things that are going to curate after this film. When we got to the music, I just wanted to make sure that I could complement that and be a part of [it] in the best way I could.”

K. Dot also said that he'd love to star as a villain in the Black Panther sequel.

"I really enjoy Killmonger's character, just off the simple fact that he was a villain but he came with some real [talk]," he said. "He was a villain but he was loved and misunderstood. So if I could, I'd play a Killmonger for sure.”

As for the film, it's passed $700 million in sales globally, making it one of the most successful films of all-time.
