The Killeen Police Department is working to address concerns of motorists failing to stop for school buses.

According to a press release from the Killeen Police Department, several complaints have been made citing concerns of motorists not stopping when a school bus is loading and/or unloading students.

The Killeen Police department is now working with Killeen ISD to direct a traffic enforcement detail.

An officer will be placed on a school bus and ride along, taking note of anyone violating Texas school bus law. The officer will then notify other officers in the area of the violators.

You must stop for a school bus no matter which direction you're heading, when it's lights are flashing and/or its stop sign has been displayed. Once the lights have stopped flashing you may proceed. Be careful to watch out for children and to keep the posted speed limit.

The first school bus detail will start Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., in the northeast sector of Killeen.
