Shooting in Killeen Leaves Man Injured

According to our partners at KWTX-TV, the shooting in the 900 block of W. Jasper was reported around 9:55 AM.

When officers got to the scene, they found a man with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple for treatment.

This Is Just Disappointing

I was raised in the great city of Killeen, and it’s just so disappointing when I hear about all the instances of violence happening in my hometown, especially since I have a child of my own I'm trying to raise here.

I wish I could say I'm shocked and surprised by the news of this shooting, but sadly, I'm just not.

Jasper, Jennifer, and Andover Road have a history of violence, including shootings. It truly saddens me to know what my city is becoming.

We Have to Be the Change We Want to See

We have got to come together as a community to make sure that things like this are put to an end. It's fortunate that the victim wasn't severely injured or killed, but things could have been much worse (and often have been).

We have to remain Killeen strong and take care of each other in the community. I pray going into 2022 that the city will rise to the occasion and there will be plenty of positivity all through Central Texas.

I believe that we are all capable of making Central Texas a place where people not only feel welcome, but more importantly, safe again. We can only pray for our cities and hope for the best.
