I think I speak for everyone in Killeen, Texas when I say we need to enjoy a good summer. We've been through a lot, and we should take some time off to just enjoy the sunshine. More importantly though, we want to make sure our kids are safe. That's why the Killeen PD is reminding residents of the city's curfew ordinance.

LET'S MAKE SURE WE KEEP THE CITY SAFE

Sorry kids, but if you're under 17 years of age, this Killeen curfew applies to you:

(1)11:00 p.m. on any Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday until 6:00 a.m. of the following day; and

(2)12:01 a.m. until 6:00 a.m. on any Saturday or Sunday.

(3)Notwithstanding (1) and (2), from June 1 to August 15 of each year, curfew hours shall be from 12:01 a.m. on any day until 6:00 a.m.

You can read more about the curfew and the few exceptions by searching "curfew" here.

My mom used to always say there’s nothing to do in Central Texas after 10 o’clock , so why would I need to be outside after that? Besides, the last thing I would want for our children is to be out late and possibly be in a scenario where they are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

With everything that has been going on as of late in Texas, I think it’s safe to say that all of us as parents just sleep better knowing that our children are in at a designated time. Of course, that takes paying attention to what your kids are up to and being active and involved in their lives. You know kids like to sneak out.

Being caught out after curfew could get you a warning and a ride home, but it could also result in a misdemeanor charge and some community service. So get yourself nice and worn out in the sunshine hours, then just relax at home when the stars are out.
