Kodak Black Plans to Earn College Degree by the Time He Gets Out of Prison
Kodak Black is hoping to make good use of his time behind bars.
On Wednesday (Nov. 20), TMZ reported that the Dying to Live rapper is looking to earn a college degree while he does his 46-month prison sentence for federal gun charges. The report states he wants to take business and marketing classes and will soon be registering for courses at Miami's Federal Detention Center.
According to the report, Kodak also wants to take the SAT upon his release with the goal of attending the University of Florida for his bachelor's degree. Previously, Kodak earned his GED behind bars during a separate prison stint.
In related news, Kodak's attorney is looking to get the rapper's 46-month sentence split with time at a special rehab center. XXL obtained court documents on Tuesday (Nov. 19), and in them, his lawyer asks Assistant United States Attorney Bruce Brown to recommend that Kodak get placed in a location that has a Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP).
Kodak could be facing more than 46 months behind bars, however. Just last week on Nov. 15, Kodak was hit with two new felony counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Because he is what prosecutors are labeling a "habitual offender," he's now facing up to 30 years in prison on each count. It's currently unclear whether the sentences would run concurrently or consecutively.
XXL has reached out to Kodak Black's lawyer for comment on the rapper's supposed interest in taking college courses in prison.
