Not all heroes wear capes!

According to KXTX a local food bank in Killeen is struggling to keep up with the demand but the community is stepping up to help.

Every week a group of volunteers meet at Cheddars Scratch Kitchen in Harker Heights where they load up a truck with chicken, soup, vegetables, potatoes along side togo orders that were never picked up and take them to the Killeen Food Care Center.

This partnership is arranged through the Food Donation Connection that matches food service companies with programs in need. The demand is so high that other restaurants in the area such as Pizza Hut, Olive Garden and Red Lobster has joined in.

Companies that can be a help are encouraged to reach out to the food pantry to find out how they can feed local families and reduce waste.
