Lupe Fiasco Wants You to Know the Medical Benefits of Cocaine
Over the weekend, a groundbreaking court ruling in Mexico made it legal for two people in the country to be able to recreationally use cocaine. The new ruling has left many people scratching their heads due to the taboo and addictive nature of the drug. However, Lupe Fiasco is offering some positives about the now mostly illegal substance.
On Saturday (Aug. 24), Lu shared his thoughts on the new revelation on Instagram. In the post, the Chicago MC posted a screenshot of the news stories about cocaine being legalized south of the border for the two unnamed individuals. He began his post with a seemingly prophetic line from one of his own songs from his Drogas Light album.
“If they legalize that whole thang, they doing weed next cocaine, niggas ain’t gone have no jobs and Wall Street gone run the dope game...what a nigga gone do?” he typed.
He then went left into an explanation of cocaine's medicinal uses.
"Actually....Cocaine is used by health care professionals and hospitals to temporarily numb the lining of the mouth, nose, and throat (mucous membranes) before certain medical procedures (e.g., biopsy, stitches, wound cleaning)," he said. "It is an anesthetic that works quickly to numb the area about 1-2 minutes after application. Cocaine also causes blood vessels to narrow, an effect that can decrease bleeding and swelling from the procedure. They already been kinda running it but still.... This makes me happy though. For various reasons most people won’t understand so I’ll keep the reasons to myself."
