The Waco Police department has made several arrests in connection with the recent shootings in North Waco.

According to our news partners at KWTX, Waco PD's Drug Enforcement and Gang Street crimes unit have been working diligently to identify individuals involved in the recent surge of shootings.

Last week, 5 shootings occurred within 72 hours, and all were in the North Waco area. Six shootings have taken place since February 5th. One of the suspects arrested by the Waco Police Department has been identified as Lewis St. Julian, Jr., age 30.

Julian was involved in the shooting that occurred February 5, at a home near Mountainview elementary. Julian was wounded during the shooting and was later arrested on Tuesday after officers found weapons and drugs in his home.

Waco city councilman Dillion Meek stated that, "The Waco Police Department is doing everything they can within every available resource in the department to end this problem."  Despite this statement, members of the community are still highly alarmed at this recent crime surge, and many do not feel as safe as they once did.
