A man wanted in connection to a murder in Austin was arrested in Belton Thursday by officers with several law enforcement agencies.

35-year-old Earnest Brassell was taken into custody without incident at a home in the 100 block of West Avenue H Thursday at 7:05 PM, according to a news release from City of Belton Spokesman Paul Romer.

KVUE-TV reports that Brassell is one of four people police believe to have involved in the shooting death of an Austin man in December. The shooting reportedly occurred as Brassell and three teens were attempting to steal marijuana from the victim.

According to Romer, officers with Belton and Harker Heights SWAT, the U.S. Marshal's Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, and the Bell County Organized Crime Unit participated in Brassell's capture. Online records indicate he was booked into the Bell County Jail at 7:36 PM Thursday and charged with one count of murder and two unspecified traffic violations.
