The Green Bay Packers may be looking for a new kicker in next month's NFL draft. Their current star and Georgetown native, Mason Crosby, was just selected in the "first round" by the Williamson County Sheriff's office as an honorary deputy.

Okay, so there's been no announcement that he'll be leaving the NFL, but the Super Bowl winner is bringing awareness to an organization very close to his heart - an organization known as The Locker.

The Locker was founded in 2008 by a handful of Georgetown High School student athletes who wanted to give back to the community. It is a service learning project that focuses on the youth of Georgetown serving each other. Students plan and execute projects to benefit at-risk peers and learn the essentials of service to their community.

As a Cowboys fan, Crosby has broken my heart a handful of times, but I guess learning he's a stand up guy lessens the pain at least a little.
