No More Public Scooters In San Antonio
The San Antonio city council has issued an amendment prohibiting dockless vehicles such as scooters from flooding the streets.
The plan isn't to eliminate scooters and bicycles from the Alamo city. Owners will still be able to commute. It is against companies that let users leave the vehicles anywhere in the city when they are finished.
Originally planned to begin in the fall, the council pushed for it to go into effect in one month's time. The fines are not set in stone quite yet, but could be as high as $500.
There is still a great deal of work to be done, including providing a way for scooter companies to dock the vehicles.
Lately I've noticed that during any trip to Downtown Austin I can't take two steps without nearly tripping over one of those things, but I have a feeling the weird city embraces it and won't be following.
