Protect Yourself! There’s Good And Bad News When It Comes To Texas’ STD Rates

The Centers for Disease Control And Prevention released its latest sexually transmitted disease report and there’s good and bad news for the state of Texas.

The good news is that no city in the state of Texas ranked in the top 50 for STD rates.

And there are only 6 Texas cities that ranked in the top 100.

That’s great to hear right?

I wouldn’t necessarily say this is bad news but starting at number 60, is where you’ll start seeing Texas cities like Lubbock (60) Dallas (61) Austin (62) Beaumont (63) and Corpus Christi at (64)

Killeen ranked at number 66 in the country for the highest STD rates. That may be good news depending on if you are a half full or half empty type of person.

One may contribute to the high STD rate in Killeen from soldiers who go to other countries and come back and spread what they got in another country to their girlfriend or wife or both. Others may say it's just because people aren't using protection.

Texas's biggest city Houston ranks 93rd on the list, San Antonio ranked 117th while Waco CAME in at 106.

According to innerbody.com Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis are at the top of the list of most commonly reported STD infections.

Based on CDC data African-Americans' STD rates are 5 to 8 times higher than non-Hispanic white people, and 1 to 2 times higher for Hispanic or Latino people than it is for white people.

The numbers show that cities and states in the south are the hardest hit with 17 of the top 25 cities being a city in the south.

Jackson Mississippi is the leader in the country with the most STD cases. They lead the way with over 2500 HIV cases over 2000 gonorrhea cases over 100 syphilis cases in almost 4000 chlamydia cases.
