One of the biggest problems people have had during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been finding a place to go and be vaccinated. Sometimes you can't get the time off to go to a vaccine clinic, or you can't fit it into your schedule.

But the vaccine is free, and it's worth carving out the time if you can, especially since the City of Killeen is hosting yet another round of vaccination clinics at the Killeen Special Events Center.

With COVID-19 cases still high in Bell and surrounding counties, the timing is good.

There will also be free testing available as well, so if your job or an event you want to attend will require a negative test, this is a chance to get swabbed and cleared.

Testing started on October 6, and will continue Thursday, October 7, and Friday, October 8. The clinics will be open from 9 AM to 7 PM.

There'll also be free testing and vaccination at the Killeen Special Events Center on Wednesday, October 13 and Thursday, October 14. Same hours - 9 AM to 7 PM.

The clinic will be a drive-through, so you won't even have to get out of your car.

You don't need to make an appointment. Just drive on up! They will ask for your phone number or email address though. That way they can get in touch with your rest results or send you reminders about getting dose #2 of the vaccine.

You'll need to be age 12 or older to participate, and anyone under 18 will need a parent or guardian present.

They'll continue to offer these services while supplies last.

When the event took place on  September 29 through October 1, there were 180 vaccines and 469 test given.

Unfortunately, 49 test came back positive, so it’s truly important to make sure we take care of this dreadful virus instead of wondering to ourselves what if. Back on August 19, the Bell County Public Health District had to raise the COVID-19 threat level to Level 1, which indicates severe, uncontrolled community transmission.

The virus hasn't gone anywhere, no matter how politicized it's become.

The most  important thing is to make sure we keep our children, families, and all of  Central Texas safe!
