Temple's Scott & White Hospital is now the only hospital in Central Texas to have a lung transplant program. Before the program was added to the hospital, patients in Central Texas had to go elsewhere to have that surgery.

Giddings resident Tracy Barnett recently became the first lung transplant patient for the program at Scott & White and talked about his experience before and after the surgery here.

The new program allows patients the chance to have the procedure without traveling to Dallas or Houston.

To receive Medicare approval, Scott & White must conduct ten transplants in a twelve month period.
