Sesame Street Is Introducing A New Character and She’s Going To Make Your Heart Melt
Sesame Street has a new character that I am so excited about!
Dropping April 10th, the world will be introduced to Julia who is a 4 year old girl with yellow skin, red hair and big green eyes! It's not her appearance that makes her so unique though.
Julia will be the first character that has Autism to be featured on a cartoon.
Over the last year Sesame Workshop has been pushing an initiative titled Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing In All Children; which promotes Autism awareness for both youths and adults!
Quick Fact: I was blessed with a set of twin nephews who were born prematurely. The youngest one was diagnosed with Autism a few years ago. Everyday it's a struggle to deal with some his many challenges. Although, he may face different obstacles in life that others may not experience he always manages to keep a smile on his face. I am beyond grateful that Sesame Street and team will be branching out and promoting awareness!
This new addition to the Sesame Street family will will forever be remembered as iconic. It's very important for people to understand that everyone is made differently but we are all very special.
I look forward to watching Julia as she debuts on Sesame Street.
