KWTX reported from the Associated Press that a very young child died in the south region of Texas this past weekend.

A 1-year-old child died on Saturday after being left in a SUV while the parent was working at a restaurant in Galveston.

Spokesman of the Galveston Police Department, Sgt. Xavier Hancock said that a parent arrived at a restaurant for work at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The parent parked the black SUV at the establishent, with the young child in the back seat.

The parent came back to the vehicle five hours later at 4:00 p.m., to find the child unresponsive. The child was pronounced dead later that Saturday evening.

Authorities in the case have not released the name of the child or the parents, and  the National Weather Service reported that the high temperature on Saturday was 92 degrees.
