State Fair of Texas Announces Texas-Themed Cookie Contest
With the ongoing pandemic, State Fair of Texas organizers have had to get creative with their contests. Now they've announced new virtual events that will let you get creative for a shot at winning statewide bragging rights. Chief among them: A Texas-themed cookie decorating contest.
This is a tasty idea. Many companies and organizations have had to adjust to the pandemic, and the State Fair of Texas has done exactly that. The pandemic caused the cancelation of the fair in 2020, but they found a nice way to keep the State Fair top of mind with drive-thru style State Fair food events and even selling their famous corny dogs at Golden Chick. (Yes, I had one...or four.)
Now the State Fair of Texas has announced its 2021 Virtual Creative Arts Contests. Things need to be done virtually these days, but that is the world we live in now, plus you can do these things from the comfort of your own home. Check out the 2021 Virtual Creative Arts Contest Handbook, which is available online.
First up is the Texas Theme Cookie Decorating. This is a great way to show your Texas pride with a cookie. There are so many cool Texas symbols to choose from, but here are some ideas for you: Dr Pepper, Whataburger, the Alamo, Armadillos, and yellow roses just to name a few.
Next up is the Patriotic Celebration. Celebrate the 4th this year by decorating a room in your house, or a shelf or mantel.
Then there's the Big Tex Cake Decorating. It's our chance to show your Big Tex pride by decorating a cake or cupcake. The only requirement here is that you feature the talking cowboy, Big Tex himself.
Then there's the Holiday! category, which another chance to show off your creativity. Pick your favorite holiday and decorate a cookie, cake, cupcake or even a shelf or mantel. Your call.
