A suspect wanted for the shooting death of a Harker Heights man is behind bars in Bell County after being arrested in California.

KWTX's Sam DeLeon reports that Joseph Manuel Blas, 26, was arrested on April 20 in Fountain Valley, CA by officers with the U.S. Marshal’s Service Pacific Southwest Regional Task Force.

Police believe Blas shot 35-year-old Thomas Raymond West in the 1000 block of Indian Trail on the evening of March 10, 2018. Officers responding to a report of shots fired in the area found West lying on the ground. He'd been shot in the hip and abdomen. The wounds proved fatal.

Bell County Jail records indicate that Blas was booked Saturday, May 12 at 10:21 PM. As of this article's publication, he remained in the Bell County Jail without bond. A charge of murder in the first degree was listed.
