Look, I was raised a middle child in a poor farm family in the 80's to embrace community, neighbors, doing the right thing and humility, which is totally in line with how most of us in Texas, "The Friendly State," were brought up. Just like any other decent, red blooded, Texan, I do take a lot of pride in the work I do within my family, church, community, and of course the kitchen and over the grill or smoker.

From time to time, I even attempt mixing it up with some baking, but admittedly, that is 100% my wife Lindsay's department. Like most Texas dads, you can most often find me grilling and chilling on the patio, and building that sweat equity over the griddle or smoker.

As much as I would like to think I have perfected my baby back ribs and brisket, every cookout guest that has ever visited will say it is my burgers that speak the loudest. If I was ever going to enter into a Throwdown with Bobby Flay, it would legitimately be a heavyweight battle of the burgers bout.
With all of the boasting about my burgers aside, our favorite family pastime is chasing after the best burgers in Texas, and according to this Love Food article, you will find that every time near the beaches of Galveston at Tookie's.
