In the week between securing his 4th AFC title in 6 straight attempts and winning his 3rd Super Bowl, NFL and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes's father Pat Sr. was arrested for DWI in Tyler, Texas and because he already had two previous DWI convictions, he was looking at a state mandated felony charge under what is generally referred to as DWI 3rd or more.

The penalties that can be sentenced for a third such conviction include 2-10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, loss of your drivers license for at least 6 months, loss of insurance or an incredibly high premium increase, and the added likelihood of being required to install an interlock ignition device that requires passing a breathalyzer before the vehicle will start.

Pat Sr. has now plead guilty earlier today to that third DWI or more felony charge on what was supposed to be his first day of trial, and according to this KENS 5 article is likely to be sentenced in about 4 weeks on September 23rd. An additional charge to his DWI offense was also driving on an invalid license, and there is currently a trial date set for that in October.

MVP Pat Mahomes's Father Will Now Likely Avoid Texas Prison

The KENS article goes on to say that Mahomes Sr. will likely receive 5 years of probation with an intense first year of supervision for things like random drug tests etc. If he were to violate probation, then serving up to ten years in prison goes back on the table.
