Gas prices continue to fall during the pandemic of COVID-19, and Texas is seeing historically low prices.

According to a report from AAA, the average gas price in Texas is the 2nd lowest in the country. As of Thursday, August 6, the average gas price across Texas is only $1.85, with the national average 33 cents higher at $2.18.

“Historically, gas prices in Texas tend to fluctuate during August, and drivers will likely see some fluctuation this month as well,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “However, prices likely won’t spike due to continued COVID-19 concerns and lower demand for gasoline.”

To truly appreciate these gas prices, let me remind you that at this time last year we were paying an average of $2.44 per gallon. I recently traveled to Colorado on vacation and noticed that gas was a whopping $2.40 a gallon. I'm definitely feeling good about these Texas prices!
