The one border state that did not finish within the three worst did not exactly escape a poor ranking either, and for that matter neither did Texas. Texas was actually ranked as the 15th worst state to live based on its ranking in categories like:

  1. Safety
  2. Quality of Life
  3. Affordability
  4. Economy

Texas Now Borders The Three Worst States To Live

The three worst states to live according to the new WalletHub data are:

  1. Louisiana
  2. New Mexico
  3. Arkansas

The fourth and final border state, Oklahoma managed to avoid the bottom 5, and is the 7th worst place to live. Was very surprised to learn that home ownership places Texas in the bottom 5 because buying our first family home was one of the most exciting parts to moving to Texas.
