Unaccompanied Air Force Veteran to be Buried in Killeen Monday
No veteran should be laid to rest without a crowd to honor their service and sacrifice, especially here in Central Texas.
If you or your organization (church, business, club, etc.) can set aside time Monday, January 28, we hope you'll attend the burial of unaccompanied United States Air Force Veteran Joseph Walker.
Walker's burial is scheduled for 10 AM at the cemetery located at 11463 TX-195 in Killeen.
According to cemetery representative Douglas R. Gault, Walker served in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968. Thanks to the efforts of All Faith’s Funeral Service in Austin and officials at Lackland Air Force Base Casualty Office, Mr. Walker will be laid to rest with military honors.
However, Mr. Walker does not appear to have any relatives. We hope that spreading the word will ensure that Mr. Walker is not laid to rest without witnesses there to honor him. If you can't attend, please at least share this article so that those who can have time to plan and organize rides.
According to KVUE-TV, at least one motorcycle club plans to attend. Luis Rodriguez with the Wind Therapy Freedom Riders tells KVUE will meet at Rudy's BBQ in Round Rock before heading north to Killeen to attend the service.
"Let's show our respects to an American Veteran," Rodriguez said.
Our thanks to Mr. Walker for his service, and to all those who are serving and have served.
