Ever got convicted of a misdemeanor in Waco?

Chances are it may be thrown out!

McLennan County District Attorney Barry Johnson has dismissed hundreds of misdemeanor cases to clear up backlogs and possibly reduce the population of the county jail.

KWTX reports that almost half of the 9,000 cases have been dismissed.

"I'd like to see misdemeanors ultimately move through the system in a six-month period of time that's kind of what we're looking at instead of a year and a half or more", said Johnson.
