This is a tough time for high-school students especially those who are seniors.

Usually, around this time seniors are preparing for senior pinnings, graduation, and prom. It's like a rite of passage to participate in all senior activities before transitioning into what adults like to call the "real world" but unfortunately, the class of 2020 won't have the luxury.

After Governor Greg Abott extended school closures until May 4th, Waco ISD has decided it's best to cancel the prom. The district believes that due to COVID-19 there won't be enough time to plan a proper prom if campuses open up by May 4th.

According to KCENTV, Executive Director for Communications at Waco ISD Joshua Wucher said the decision to cancel wasn't an easy one and if campuses open May 4th, the district plans to have graduation May 30th at the Waco ISD stadium. If they don't open by then, they'll have to re-assess or find another way to celebrate 2020 seniors.

If you are a parent of or know a senior please hug them tight because this devastating.
