I've heard of people getting kicked out of places for refusing to wear a mask, but getting kicked out for wearing a mask? That seems kinda silly.

Apparently this is the world we live in now. Some places enforce a mask policy while others enforce a no mask policy.

Family Day Out Gone Wrong

Natalie Wester and her husband are new parents to a four-month-old.  As any new parent can tell you, having an opportunity to get out for a few hours and unwind doesn't happen too often. When they got the chance to line up some childcare for a few hours, they jumped at the chance. They met a few friends at a local place in Rowlett, Texas called Hang Time Sports Grill & Bar.

Shortly after being seated, they were approached by a waitress who told them they had to take off their masks.

Wester told KTVT-TV"If you've ever been new parents and what not, having those couple of hours out, like once a month or so, is so important for your mental health. Our waitress came over, sat down next to me and said, 'So, our manager sent us over because I am nicer than he is, and yes, this is very political, but you need to take your mask off.'"

Our Way or the Highway

Turns out the restaurant they visited has a strict no mask policy as part of their dress code, meaning you cannot wear a mask inside the facility - no exceptions.

They Wore Masks for a Reason

Wester's four-month-old son is immunocompromised, and although Wester and her husband are both fully vaccinated, they wear a mask to help protect against any transmittable viruses that could harm their son.

Hang Time's owner is a guy named Tom, and he tells KTVT-TV, "I spent my money on this business," he said. "I put my blood, sweat and tears in this business, and I don't want any masks in here."

With Hang Time being a private business, he has the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason, even wearing a mask. Tom said he was unaware of Wester's immunocompromised son, but says he'll continue to enforce the no mask dress code policy.
