Police in Killeen have arrested a man suspected of shooting a woman while riding in her car Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of Goodhue Drive at 2:19 PM. When they arrived, they found a woman in the driver’s seat of a silver Honda sedan suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the Carl. R. Darnal Army Medical Center in critical condition, but later airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple where she remained in critical condition Tuesday night.

Witnesses gave police a description of a male suspect who fled on foot. The man was later found in the 2000 block of Hinkle Avenue. When the man realized he’d been spotted, he tried to flee. He was arrested at 2:26 PM and taken to the Killeen City Jail.

Police have no released the names of the victim or the shooter, and detectives were still investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting Tuesday evening.
