The Backyard Bar & Grill recently announced that rapper, songwriter, DJ, and record producer Lil Jon will be taking the stage on June 4th. Opening the set will be NY native, and actually a close personal friend of mine, DJ Magnum.

Doors open at 6 PM, and the show starts at 8:30 PM. Tickets are on sale now, but will most likely sell out quickly!

In May, the Backyard Bar & Grill brought Grammy award winning artist Nelly, and the show sold out just 12 hours after it was announced. Initially some locals thought the $83 ticket price seemed steep, but despite their concerns, the venue was packed with fans.

The Lil Jon tickets are selling for $60 before the show, and $75 the day of, if they don't sell out before then.

I reached out to DJ Magnum to get his thoughts on the big night:

"I'm blessed to be able to open for Lil Jon," Magnum stated. "Waco is absolutely growing. I think the Backyard adding these acts is a smart business move. I think people who grew up with Lil Jon will be very excited, and I see more of these shows  coming to the area soon."

With the rapid growth of Central Texas, I can certainly see more artists performing in the area. I asked Magnum who he would like to see and open for potentially:

"I would love to open a set for Ludacris in the future."

When asked about Lil Jon's popularity today, Magnum told me:

"Get Low is still a power hour song when I need to get the dance floor popping, and I would find it hard to do a set without featuring Lil Jon or even Nelly."

Magnum's last piece of advice for those looking to enjoy the show is to get there early!

"Don't meet me there, beat me there!"
