Another Shooting In Killeen, Texas? This Time A Potential Carjacking
It’s been a crazy 48 hours with shootings happening in Killeen, Harker Heights, and even Copperas Cove.
Teen Fatally Shot at Harker Heights Intersection Monday
On Monday, January 17, 19-year-old Andre Gentle was at a traffic light at Indian Trail and Central Texas Expressway when he was ambushed. A vehicle with four men drove up behind the victim’s car and then opened fire at the victim, shooting him multiple times and killing him.
Attempted Carjacking Leads to Shooting in Killeen Tuesday
Tuesday morning in Killeen, a man shot an armed suspect who tried to carjack him after a high-speed chase according to KWTX.
Killeen police chief Charles Kimble said the officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant at the suspect's house Tuesday morning because he’s wanted for a string of robberies in the Killeen area.
The suspect reported got in a car and fled from police, leading them on a on high-speed chase through Harker Heights, Nolanville, and then back into Killeen.
When the suspect arrived in Killeen, police say he attempted to carjack a driver on Rosewood Street. The driver was reportedly armed, and shot the suspect several times.
The suspect was airlifted to a local hospital. No further details had been released Tuesday afternoon.
Copperas Cove Police Are Investigating a Shooting on 19th Street
Sadly, there's a report of more violence in another Central Texas town.
CPT Gabriel Cardona with the Copperas Cove Police Department reports that officers were dispatched to a home in the 900 block of North 19th St. around 8 PM Monday. They found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, who was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
Witnesses told police a man named Ray Charles Davis had been invited to the home for a gathering of friends, but had gotten into an argument with someone that he escalated by firing shots.
According to investigators, David fled the home on foot and was the subject of a search until someone reported a suspicious person walking along Grimes Crossing Road.
Davis was apprehended without incident and charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
