You may remember the tragic story from the beginning of the year where the couple from Temple, Jenna Scott, 28, and her friend Michael Swearingin, 32 were missing and their bodies were eventually found in Oklahoma.

Their accused killer Cedric Marks, has been in custody since January.

 Now, The Bell County District Attorney's office is seeking the death penalty.

Cedric Marks, who practiced mixed martial arts taught the sport in Killeen.

He and Jenna Scott were previously in an abusive relationship where she reportedly told a judge "he threatens and hurts her and told her she's gotten away with murder before".

According to Marks' attorney now that a request for the death penalty has been issued the trial may take up to 2 years to get underway.

KWTX reports that a pretrial date has been set for August 29th

Marks' girlfriend, Maya Renee Maxwell who gave birth to Marks' baby while incarcerated, is in police custody charged with capital murder as well as she helped to hide their (the deceased couple's) car. In January she admitted to tampering with evidence.
