Belton School Board Approves Purchasing Site For Future Schools

By an unanimous vote yesterday, Belton ISD approved a  $1.5 million purchase of 109 acres near Loop 121.

According to a press release issued by Belton ISD, it is time to expand.

It still remains to be seen what types of schools will be built on the property purchased, but by 2019, Belton is projected to be near capacity with elementary and middle schools and at or near capacity in 2021 for high schools.

Superintendent Susan Kincannon predicted Bellton would have as many as 8,800 high school students.

"Looking out 20 or 30 years we realized the question was less whether Belton ISD would have two comprehensive high schools and more whether we'd have three or more" she said.
