The City of Temple's Solid Waste department will offer safe disposal of household hazardous waste to all Central Texas residents on Saturday, October 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Citizens of Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, Mills, and San Saba Counties are invited to bring petroleum products, corrosives, fertilizers, cleaners, pesticides, paint, automotive liquids, and fluorescent lamps and bulbs to 3210 East Avenue H in Temple for safe disposal at no charge. Batteries, electronics, and up to eight passenger car and light truck tires will also be accepted.

Prohibited materials include ammunition, explosives, medical waste, radioactive material, compressed glass cylinders, and commercial tires.

Participants are asked to bring proof of residency and to carefully secure any fragile or awkward containers. The City asks that waste be in original containers with original labels if possible, and leaking containers be placed in spill-proof containers or bags.

For more information and a complete list of acceptable and unacceptable materials, visit the City of Killeen's website at http://killeentexas.gov/hhw.
