The rumor mill got to spinning last week when Drake and Taylor Swift were spotted together at Drizzy's birthday party, reports saying that Drake introduced Taylor to his mother. While sources told TMZ that the two were just friends, Drake went and added some fuel to the fire by posting the above photo to Instagram, captioning it with "Is that velvet?"

The connection between the two artists is well-established, Swift starring in an Apple Music ad in which she raps along to "Jumpman" back in April. E! News is reporting that the new union is for an upcoming collaboration. According to their source, "the music they have been working on is different," but catchy. "They've both been having a great time in the studio," an insider says.

Considering the onstage chemistry Drake has had with Rihanna, it isn't too far of a stretch to think his collaborations reflect his love life, and according to someone at his party, "At one point Drake and Taylor were seen near the DJ together talking, his arm over her shoulder for a minute like a real friend moment. It looked like they were talking about something deep."

Taylor Swift has collaborated with Kendrick Lamar in the past, but given her bad blood with Kanye West, whom Drake is reportedly working on a joint album with, the sudden friendship seems odd. Either way, the photos are inspiring plenty of speculation on Twitter, a few recent reactions included below.
