Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, and the City of Harker Heights along with the Harker Heights Veterans Council will be doing something a little different this year to celebrate our nation's veterans.

From Monday, November 9 through Friday, November 20, the City of Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Facebook page will feature posts highlighting and thanking service members both retired and currently active.

At 6 PM Tuesday, November 10, they'll post a virtual Veterans Day Ceremony to the page that you can enjoy with your family from the comfort of home.

Be sure to like and follow that page at facebook.com/harkerheightspr for those tributes.

If you'd like to submit a photo of a veteran or active duty servicemember to be honored on the page, you can send it to Activities Center & Events Manager Nichole Broemer at nbromer@harkerheights.gov. Be sure to include the name of the person in the photo, the branch in which they served or are serving, and their period of service in your email.

You can reach out to Nichole at (254) 953-5465 with any questions.

However you choose to recognize Veterans Day, just be sure to let any veterans or active duty military you know how much you appreciate their service and sacrifices.

If you've served, you have our undying gratitude. We can never thank you enough.

Be sure to take advantage of deals at businesses that honor veterans each year. The folks at Military Benefits have handy guides to Veterans Day Discounts and Deals and Free Meals. Plus, you know that with Central Texas being a military community, there'll plenty of deals at local establishments who want to show their gratitude and respect.
