Veterans Day is November 11, and although there is no local parade this year, there are still plenty of great deals for the men and women who are serving and have served.

The pandemic has claimed yet another annual annual event as the Veterans Day Parade has been cancelled, but there is still good news. There will be plenty of Veterans Day discounts, deals, free food, and other ways to honor the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our nation.

The Killeen Daily Herald has a pretty extensive list, so I'll summarize.

Let’s start with the events, There will be a Veterans Day program outside of Killeen City Hall starting at 9 AM on November 11. Command Sergeant Major Michael a Crosby is the keynote speaker. The event will be streamed through the Killeen Harold’s Facebook page, so be sure to like them so you'll get a notification.
There are also other events to note. The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, The Mayborn Science Theater at Central Texas College, The Wounded Warrior Project, Military exchanges and the Defense Commissary Agencythe Army and Air Force Exchange Service HubThe Texas Veterans Land Board, and The Vietnam Veterans Memorial are all planning events that can be seen online.

As for free or discounted food deals, a lot of establishments are doing some kind of deal for our active duty and retired military. Red Lobster, Plucker’s Wing Bar, Chili’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cracker Barrel, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, Golden Corral, Hooters, Outback Steakhouse, Red Robin, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Starbucks, Cotton Patch Café, Little Caesars, California Pizza Kitchen, Brick House Tavern + Tap, Texas Roadhouse, Yard House and Applebee’s all have a deal lined up.

Some great shopping deals too from Target, Military exchanges and commissaries, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Great Clips, Home Depot, Lowe’s, CVS Pharmacy and Rack Room Shoes, just to name a few.

You should check with the locations on specifics, and you'll need a military I.D. to take advantage of the deals, but there's plenty of good offering out there to show appreciation to our veterans.

To everyone serving or who has served, thank you!
