In hip-hop, Ice Cube is best known for keeping it real through his lyrical content, and now with more than 20 years of acting under his belt, he’s going to bring some harsh reality to the big screen with a new project.

The rap mogul is starring and producing a new movie called Excessive Force. Deadline reports the film is a story about racism and corruption directed by noted filmmaker Carl Franklin (Devil in the Blue Dress, One False Movie).

So far storyline is shrouded in a cloud of mystery. Deadline reports the film’s storyline involves excessive force in the Cleveland police department and examines racism along with systematic corruption in law enforcement.

Joe Roth is producing the movie along with Cube’s CubeVision banner. Producer Jeff Kwatinetz, COO of CubeVision, penned the script along with Cube.

CubeVision has a slew of film projects on deck including a biopic about the life of baseball player Dock Ellis called Dock. Cube's son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., will play the titular athlete. In addition, both father and son will star in a stoner comedy together called Rocky Mountain High.

Also in pre-production is a hip-hop version of the Charles Dickens classic book "Oliver Twist," called Oliver and a contemporary retelling of the Charles Dickens’ tale A Christmas Carol with Cube playing Scrooge. Finally, Ride Along 3 is in development with Kevin Hart expected to return in his starring role.

It's safe to say that Ice Cube is making major moves in Hollywood.
