The online insurance shopping platform analyzed over 900,000 auto insurance applications indicating whether a person was a current or former military service member, then reviewed the data to determine the top-ranking cities in each state.

Retired Colonel Keith Sledd, Executive Director of the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance (HOTDA), had this to say:

Within the Central Texas Region, the City of Killeen has a long history of providing tremendous support to our Soldiers and their Families.

It is easy to understand why the City of Killeen was selected for this honor. Using the last three years of data from HOTDA’s Veterans Inventory Report, Killeen’s support for Soldiers and their families is illustrated by the number of separating and retiring Soldiers who elect to remain in the area with 25% to 33% of Soldiers each quarter indicating their intent to stay here.

I would like to thank the City of Killeen, its leadership, and its citizens for their unwavering support for Soldiers and their Families and also congratulate them on their selection as the Most Patriotic City in Texas!

Insurify CEO Snejina Zacharia added:

Military service is a tradition that represents the best of America. These awards recognize the communities in each state whose residents have contributed the most to our nation's armed services.

Killeen is also home to the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, where a flag laying ceremony will take place this Saturday, May 26 beginning at 8 AM.

While you're there, you may want to visit the Vietnam Memorial to honor those who lost their lives in that conflict. It's a beautiful space dedicated to their service and sacrifice. I visited the memorial last year along with Wes Adams with our sister station, KUSJ. The video below gives you a look at what you can expect to see.
