Killeen ISD has decided to cancel the in-person graduation for the class of 2020.

The district released a message to graduates and parents informing them that due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the area, the ceremony would happen virtually. In the last few weeks, KISD remained hopeful that circumstances would allow graduates to celebrate the traditional way, but things didn't work out.

As stated in a previous press release, the district had planned on utilizing the Bell County Expo Center, but capacity restrictions made that impossible.

Superintendent John Craft said "This decision was not made lightly, but we must keep the health and safety of our community at the forefront."

Virtual graduations are available to be viewed on the district's website.
