A Hewitt man has been charged in connection to a 2016 murder in Temple.

Police issued a murder warrant for Quentorius Tramaine Simmons Thursday after investigators determined he was a suspect in a violent home invasion that led to a man's death in the 1200 block of 10th St. in Temple on December 12, 2016.

According to TPD Spokeswoman Shawana Neely, Simmons was already in the Bell County Jail on an unrelated charge when Thursday's warrant was issued.

Jail records indicate Simmons, 31, was booked into the Bell County Jail on July 30, 2017 shortly before 10 PM and charged with failure to identify as a fugitive and an unspecified blue warrant. On August 14, 2016, an additional charge of evading arrest was added.

According to records, Simmons was charged with first degree murder Thursday, and his bond now totals $1,027,500.
